Complementary products

The Complementary Products block displays related or recommended products alongside the main product. It helps increase average order value by encouraging customers to explore additional items.

This block uses Shopify’s recommendation system and requires the Search & Discovery app to assign complementary products.




Settings

Setting Type Description
Heading text Defines the title displayed above the product recommendations.
Show as collapsible row checkbox Displays the block as a collapsible section when enabled.
Icon select Selects an icon displayed when the collapsible layout is used.
Maximum products to show range Sets the total number of products available in the list.
Number of products per page range Controls how many products are visible at once.
Pagination style select Defines how users navigate between products (e.g. counter).
Image ratio select Controls the aspect ratio of product images (Portrait or Square).
Enable quick add button checkbox Adds a quick add-to-cart button to each product card.

Notes

  • This block requires the Shopify Search & Discovery app to function.
  • Complementary products must be assigned manually in the app.
  • If no products are assigned, the block may not display content.
  • Works best when placed below the main product information.
  • Use a clear heading like “You may also like” to guide users.

🔧 Setup Requirement

To use this block:

  1. Install the Shopify Search & Discovery app
  2. Go to a product in Shopify Admin
  3. Assign Complementary products
  4. Save and preview
